Is this what you really want? A job now?
Most people think that having a job will provide them with security. This is not the case in today's world.
You are better off creating your own work. Is it easy you ask?
It takes the same amount of time to be successful in business as it takes to train for a career. Whatever profession you choose you could make it your business instead.
My first ‘skilled' job was as a printer. I did my apprenticeship over 4 years and became a qualified printer.
Do you know when I started to make money?
I made money from printing when I started my own company. It wasn't easy and there was a lot to learn. I had to give up all of my free time to make this business work. I put what little money I had into that business.
I was lucky to know a technician who loaned me my first printing press. He let me use it for free until I had enough money to pay for this machine. It was clapped out. I had to strip it down and rebuild it before it would work.
Did I have the skills to rebuild a printing press?
No! I had to figure it out by myself. The only thing I had going for me was the determination to succeed. It took me one whole week (across four weekends) to fix this machine up and make it work. When it finally worked, I was ecstatic.
Now I had to find customers and bring in some orders.
I also had to find some suppliers who would trust me enough to let me have an account and get some products, paper, ink, chemicals etc without any sales and no customers yet.
This was a huge risk of time and money!
But, I never regretted it. I learned so much in those early days and within one year I had a successful business. It was at this point I stopped working for someone else and started working for myself.
It wasn't easy and it was a lot of hard work! Before I stopped working for another company I worked non-stop over the weekend on my business. Yes, from 6pm Friday through to 10pm Sunday, without sleep!
I sold that business in 1994
I spent all my money on things I enjoyed doing (I won't go into detail otherwise you will be here all day or not) and never looked back.
I have started and sold many businesses since then but they all required capital.
The internet has come of age.
Now here I am on the verge of something very exciting. The internet. Here we have the opportunity of creating an income from the comfort of our own homes. We can start on the smell of an oily rag.
Don't get me wrong, though. It still takes time and energy to make a business work on the internet, but the good news is, you don't need a lot of capital to make an online business work.
In fact, if you play your cards right you could have a highly successful online business within a year or two.
There are plenty of how-tos out there.
You will find a wealth of information on the internet about how to start up your own business and succeed. In fact, there is too much information out there.
Requirements to succeed in an online business.
You only need one skill. The skill you need is determination. Yep, that's it, determination! If you have that, you have all you need to succeed.
To be able to stick to your goals requires a special type of person, one who carries on in the face of all odds.
The biggest obstacle to your success is you.
We like to think that it is the people around us who are our obstacles because they are the negative ones and say we won't make it. But it is really up to us to know that we have it within ourselves to succeed. To be able to ignore negative feedback and move on regardless, yep, determination is what is required.
Now go out and make it happen!
